Eligibility

Programme requirements and eligibility

Applicants to the programme should have or expect a UK first-class honours degree or its international equivalent, in a quantitative subject such as mathematics, physics, engineering, actuarial science, computer science. The degree must include a course which covers some probability.

Students who have a joint degree with economics and one of the above will also be considered. Relevant experience, or professional or other qualifications will also be considered.

You can apply without having a graduate admissions exam result (GRE or GMAT). Your application, however, may be substantially stronger if you do include such a result. We may also stipulate that you must attain a specified grade in one of these tests as a condition of entry if other aspects of your application are borderline. We do not formally consider results from the Verbal and Analytical sections in our assessment of your application.

You must meet our English language requirements for the programme, which will be available on the Degree Finder. Further information about English language requirements is available from the University of Edinburgh's English language requirements for postgraduate entry.
