Guidance on the School of Economics' MSc Tuition Fee Deposit policy, and deposit payment links Tuition fee deposit policy 1) Who is required to pay, and how much? A deposit is required from all applicants with an offer of admission for the below programmes, unless eligible for a deposit waiver as outlined in point 5 below. The deposit will be offset against the tuition fee payable at the time of matriculation. The deposit is £1500 for all programmes. Programmes of study: MSc Economics MSc Economics (Econometrics) MSc Economics (Finance) MSc Mathematical Economics and Econometrics 2) When must the deposit be paid? The deadline for payment of the deposit is dependent on which round of applications the offer was issued in. Please see the below table as a general guide: Application deadline Decision deadline Deposit deadline Friday 1st December 2023 Thursday 15th February 2024 Monday 15th April 2024 Monday 4th March 2024 Monday 13th May 2024 Friday 12th July 2024 Thursday 6th June 2024 Wednesday 10th July 2024 August 2024 - exact date TBC 3) How can the deposit be paid? Payments can be made by most major credit and debit cards using the University's online payment system, through the below link. Please contact the PG office if you are unable to make payment by card and we can help with alternatives such as bank transfer. The PG office will endeavour to provide payment confirmation within one week of receipt; please be advised that this may not always be possible, particularly during busy periods. It may take longer for your offer conditions to be updated, but you can be assured that once you have received payment confirmation, this will happen as soon as possible. Any applicant facing difficulties in paying the deposit should contact the PG office as soon as possible. 4) Implications of non-payment by the deadline If the PG office has not received the deposit by the stated deadline, the application will be withdrawn without further notice, as this is an offer condition that must be met. It is therefore essential that applicants have their funding in place for the deposit before applying. If an applicant is still interested in retaining their place on the programme but has for any reason not been able to pay the deposit by the deadline, the applicant should contact the PG office without delay to discuss the circumstances. 5) Deposit waivers The following applicants will not be required to pay the deposit: Applicants with an offer condition to attend the Pre-sessional Summer Programme. Applicants for the SGPE Widening Participation Scholarship (for SGPE programmes only). Applicants who have a scholarship or loan covering full tuition fees awarded by a recognised body (including Postgraduate Loans from SAAS and Student Finance England/Wales/Northern Ireland), or sponsorship from an employer. Please contact the PG office as soon as possible after receiving your offer to discuss this. Proof will be required. 6) Refund policy Applicants requesting a refund for any reason within 14 calendar days after the payment date will be refunded in full. Applications will be withdrawn upon issue of the refund. Refund requests more than 14 days after the payment date will only be issued if: The applicant's visa application has been refused The Admissions team has rejected the application due to failure to meet any other offer conditions The applicant can prove they were prevented from taking up their place on the programme due to extenuating circumstances, for example (but not limited to) long-term illness or financial hardship Proof of the above must be provided and should consist of official documentation received by the applicant, e.g. communication from UKVI or an English language testing centre, a letter from a registered medical professional. Requests should be made at the earliest opportunity If no attempt has been made to the meet the required conditions after the conditional offer was made, the deposit will not be refundable. Applicants whose visa application is rejected due to fraudulent documentation or due to conditions which the applicant could have foreseen will not be eligible for a refund. Applicants who have met all offer conditions but are unable to arrive at the University before the final latest arrival date (as outlined in pre-arrival communications; usually the third Monday in September) will not be eligible for a refund, unless this was due to an extenuating circumstance as listed above. In the unlikely event that a programme of study is cancelled, a full refund of the deposit will be made to all applicants. Pay your deposit here The payment link will be provided soon. Please do not make any payment unless you have received an offer.
