Economics Society

With over 1200 members and dozens of events hosted every year, the Economics Society (EconSoc) is one of the largest student societies at University of Edinburgh. It also includes EconWomen, EconSport, and Insight magazine.

The society aims to foster a supportive community of a diverse range of students, brought together by a shared interest in the social sciences. It creates academic opportunities and insight by hosting speakers, discussions and debates not otherwise available through the University. Looking to prepare its members for their careers, they provide information about, and experiment with, companies and industries related to their field of interest.

EconWomen

EconWomen sits within EconSoc and focuses on the representation of women in the economics sector. They organise events to help empower women to be proactive towards their future professional career. They also have a football team for anyone who likes sports or wants to take up a more active hobby.

Insight Magazine

Insight is The University of Edinburgh’s economics biannual magazine, entirely produced by students, and supported by the School of Economics. They are the perfect platform for you to express your opinions, and to demonstrate your writing skills on any economics-related topics. 

Insight welcomes writers of all backgrounds! Typically, proposals for articles are accepted at the beginning of each semester. Writers are assigned to one of the editing team who work with them to produce articles. If you would like to work as an editor, or have design flair to join the production team, get in touch.

Edinburgh University Trading and Investment Club (EUTIC)

This club has attracted sponsorship from a number of major financial institutions, enabling it to set up its own investment fund. Other society activities include basic training in financial trading and analysis, and a series of talks on finance topics by staff from leading financial institutions.

Edinburgh University Students' Association (EUSA)

EUSA, as well as various individual student societies, offer skills training sessions, covering such skills as assertiveness, communication, leadership, presentation, team building, and group work. On their website, you can search for other societies that involve your personal interests.

Edinburgh University Sports Union (EUSU)

Edinburgh University Sports Union is the #1 Sporting Institution in Scotland and 4th in the UK with an incredible 67 Clubs and over 10,000 members. There is an excellent Intramural and Recreational Sport Programme and a Coaching & Volunteering Academy with a year long programme of events, seminars and opportunities to engage and develop as an athlete and as a person.
