Whether you are a writer, artist, or interested in editing or producing, there are many ways to get involved with Insight Magazine!

Writing

Open to all University of Edinburgh students, writing is a great way to contribute to the magazine. Writing proposals are open at the beginning of every semester, and the themes are broad so that you can write about a multitude of topics relating back to economics in some way. During the drafting process, you will be paired with an experienced editor who will make grammatical and stylistic suggestions and will help you with economics knowledge if that is not your area of study.

We encourage writers to be creative with the format of their articles; in past issues, we have had debate-style articles, film reviews and interviews, as well as opinion pieces and analytical articles.

If chosen, your article will be printed in a physical magazine (as well as uploaded online), and you will have the chance to win the Insight Prize for best article!

If you are curious about what Insight Magazine articles are like, you can read through our latest issue or our archive.

Art and Photography

For every issue, we will post a call for artists and photographers to have the opportunity to have their art displayed on the cover of the magazine, earning a prize!
